From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture does two things: (1) it exposes our brokenness; and (2) it points us to our Savior. That’s the gospel, and we want to look at each of these in more detail.
I think we all wish that God would simply write out his will for our lives, in the same way that I would rather get a prescription from the doctor than have to change my lifestyle or undergo invasive surgery. Sadly, God has other priorities for our growth and relationship with him than simply giving us the right answer.
What does it take to begin a relationship with God? Do you need to devote yourself to unselfish religious deeds? Must you become a better person so that God will accept you? You may be surprised that none of those things will work. But God has made it very clear in the Bible how we can know Him.
Have you ever felt that this can’t be all there is—that somehow there must be something deeper, something more to the Christian life? Something you don’t need to act out but a palpable source of energy and life flowing from the heart? Not behavior modification by your own effort and discipline but life transformation through God’s power? Thirsty is a two-week devotional that expands and develops on all the concepts of the Spirit Filled Life.
We understand that people enter into conversations about race and racism from different perspectives, which are based on their experiences, values and environments. Growing in our understanding of our own cultural identities and those of others helps us to fulfill the second part of the Great Commandment: loving others. We don’t have this conversation because it is “trending,” but rather because it’s important to God and affects our witness as the body of Christ.
Don’t know how to spend time with God? These devotionals and articles will help you draw closer to the Lord while providing a variety of options to fit your personality
Print out this handy bookmark (provided by Intervarsity) and keep it in your Bible! One of the best ways to study the Bible is through “inductive” study. This method makes observations on a passage of Scripture and then draws conclusions based on those observations.
Based on the popular narrative gospel booklet, this series of seven studies covers all the themes of Backstory (Intimacy, Betrayal, Anticipation, Pursuit, Sacrifice, Invitation, and Reunion), serving as an effective tool for guiding the spiritually curious through the gospel over a period of days or weeks.
A proven approach to spiritual conversations. Built around four roles, CoJourners helps you learn (or teach) the art of entering the spiritual journeys of others to help them come to Jesus.
